Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Whose line is it anyway::A tribute to Cherie

It's a rhyming thing...

Many know,I am a poet at heart. Before I started writing and singing,my passion was poetry. It is in a way of how I express my deepest thoughts and ideas. I've been able to communicate to many different types of people through my poetry, whether it be through a poem of sympathy or one to express joy. Its truly amazing how God can use such a simple thing as two rhyming lines to change a life forever. I hope some of these poems will be a challenge to you to help you in your walk with God. Please enjoy! ^_^

My new home in Heaven

My new home in Heaven is beautiful
In my new home in Heaven they praise
Everyone is cheerful here
And so am I

Even though I'm gone
I'll always be with you
Even though we're apart
I'll always watch over you

Think of me always
And I'll see you soon.

The poem above,I wrote for a beloved teacher who went to be with the Lord when I was eleven, but its also an allusion to my friend Heather whom you can read about on the Friends are Forever page. The poem may be short, but it is a constant reminder of a new home in Heaven waiting for us,and oh how I can't wait for that day to be with the Lord!!

Meeting Place

Silently I wait
By the still waters for you
As the moon warns me its late
I know I cannot abandon you

I see in the water
A pale blue light
And I smell a sweet aroma
Giving a pleasancy to the night

As the moon climbs ever higher
And midnight draws near
I refuse to call you a liar
For wanting to see me here

Slowly but surely
I begin to lose strength
But then I see you
At full arms length

There you are
So brilliant in splendor
Yet so timid
Showing no vigor

I reach out to you
To hold your hand
You too do the same
And then united we stand

I then feel a tear
Drawing close to my eye
But you wipe it away
Telling me not to cry

You wrapped your arms around me
Holding me so close and tight
To feel you so close to me again
Made me shiver in delight

But then you drew away
Saying you must go
I tried to stop you
But you said no

'Why must you leave'
I asked
You replied
'To accomplish another task'

Confusion now swept over me
As you stepped into the light
I asked you 'When will you return'
And you turned to me,facing the night

'My friend
Do not fear
For I shall be waiting
Waiting right here'

And then you were gone
In a simple glowing light
I turned to leave
And heard your voice through the night

'My presence is everlasting with you
My friend
Do not ever feel we will not meet again
For eternity has no end'

Many consider this an allusion to a love poem, and in a sense it is. Like a dream to meet the person you fall in love with and live happily ever after. But the intentions of this poem are again for my friend Heather. This was about a dream I had, meeting her again in the night precisely described here. Its really kind of creepy if you think about it,but after this dream I had a greater sense of peace about the matter.

America

America
A land of liberty and freedom
America
To all a free kingdom

But our nation is hurt
Driven to its knees
And many cry out to God
Their desperate pleas

This country is shocked from destruction
Of buildings great and tall
But this nation will forever stand
And we refuse to fall

America shines as a beacon of hope
For those who are lost
And they are willing to serve their country
Whatever the cost

Still
We as a nation will shine bright
And we are determined
To win this fight

We look up to our flag
Old Glory waving up in the sky
Even at half staff
It still stands high

Together as a nation
We are great
And are always willing
To share another's fate

To our President
Who will lead us through this time of trial
He admits
Normalcy may not come for a while

But together
As we share our tears
He declares to all
That this nation has no fear

America,America
The home of the free and the brave
To American's who are lost
Be assured that Jesus will save

I wrote this poem in response to the September 11,2001 terrorist attacks, and thanks to a good friend she found it again for me. (Thanks Steph! You're an angel!) But it just vividly shows our nation's greatness but yet, without God,we are nothing at all. We American's are blessed, let's not take that for granted ever again.

Titanic

Silently she sleeps
Lying in a bed of her own wake
Never stirring
For she is no longer awake

Yet inside her shattering existence
Lives that once were
Now call out
To the ones above

Families were broken
Hearts were torn
Love was ripped in two
Giving in to hate and scorn

Fighting for control
Over life and death
Man was willing to kill his brother
Ready to take all he held dear

No matter how much they begged and pleaded
So this all could end
She paid no heed to their cries
Leaving them alone to fend

Sought after mercy was hopeless
Bitter death was imminent
Wives mourned for their husbands
Young children wept for their fathers

"Come with us, Daddy"
They would say
He would reply
"I will again some day"

Gentle hands reached out
To touch one last time
And slowly slipped away
With the beast that took life from their fingers

Fragile eyes watch
As the immortal begins to fall apart
Whispering their chilled goodbyes
Bidding farewell to their fallen sweethearts

Quicker she begins to sink
Icy waters flooding her once warm corridors
Striking its frightened victims
With a fire that is dark and cold

One by one
Lives surrender to the sea
Their meaning for existence choked out
For none can breathe

Call out to me
Invincible warrior in the deep
Tell me why you fell
How could you have been such a fool

Pride, you tell me
With a saddened groan
Drowning in your own sorrow
All alone

You claimed to be unsurpassed by none
Unrivaled by the greatest from the past
But look at you now
Defeated weakling

Have you no shame
For taking so many lives that night
You could have done something to stop it all
Why didn't you fight

"Believe me, I did"
I hear you say
"I held on and struggled"
"I battled for their lives"

But not enough
They still died
So many fathers and sons perished
So many little children cried

Picture it again, invincible one
Envision them in the cold arctic waters
Their breathing halted
Their bodies still

Is that how you wanted it to end
While you just sank beneath the surface
Leaving them to die while their loved ones wept
Are you truly that heartless

"No, I wanted their lives to be spared"
"If I could change that night"
"I would"
"But I cannot"

"Each day and night"
"I rest here in my shame"
"Recalling those who were lost"
"For I am the one to blame"

"But before you strike again"
"With bitter words to add to my grief"
"Understand that I too feel their pain"
"And do not deserve to be forgiven for my own vanity"

"All that I ask of you"
"Tell them I am sorry"
"For being so selfish"
"Please, console their loved ones for me"

I no longer know how to reply
You have left me without words to speak
How can I express your remorse
If I have nothing to say

Well of my heart and soul
Come upon me
Let me lament for those who are no more
Allow me to sing a hymn to the sea

Great warrior beneath the ocean deep
Hear my song
As it fortells of your story
And of my sincerity

Forgive me, Titanic
I will remember you

This was written when I really took into account the story of the Titanic, and what a horrible experience it must have been. Hundreds of people died and seemed that their murderer was left unpunished, so I wrote this in the format of a story and conversation both, in order to communicate to the reader and with the ship itself. No doubt you noticed its length, my longest one to date, and probably my best since I tackle a tough issue with it, but my intentions were to simply express my feelings about that night and get my point across to the audience.

Man of God

You came to this earth
Unsure of what awaited you
But to please God
Is all you knew

Burdened with a will
A need and desire
To change lives
A passion to inspire

You have talent
A special gift
With the power to strengthen
Transpire and lift

Man of God
We commend
Man of God
This is not the end

You started something great
A tradition of song
Touching lives everywhere
Singing strong

You mean such a great deal
To many like us
Bringing with you a message of hope
The message of Jesus

We pray to be like the Lord that lives in you
To shine Christ's love
Because inside you we see
The Light from above

Man of God
Let your testimony transcend
Man of God
This is not your end

For so long you have been
A light to us all
And through your voice
We'd hear Him call

One long sweet note
Has the power to heal
That certain joy eminating from you
We will always feel

Inside of you we see
A heart for God so bright
Don't ever let that flame die
Hold onto it with all your might

Man of God
No one can define
Man of God
A love for Him so divine

Now all has gone quiet
We are deafened by your silence
Even if we can't hear you
We know you rest in His reliance

To us you brought a significant peace in God
A sense of tranquility
Shining Christ's glory
Sharing His absolute divinity

Your love for the Lord
We will always remember
In our hearts we will cherish
Our memories with you so tender

Man of God
Let your testimony shine all the way through
Man of God
We thank you

This was written shortly after I heard of Michael Passons' absence of Avalon back in July of 2003. I was heartbroken that he had to leave, but was ever grateful for his remarkable testimony that he's displayed all his life. Michael is another role model to me, more in the fatherly sense, and I miss him like no one can understand. So, this poem was written for him, and once more, I thank him from the bottom of my heart for being such a great influence on my life.

Broken Heart of the Angels

Slowly slipping
Strength has gone away
Taken and destroyed
The broken heart of the angels

Treated at first with love
Undying care and devotion
Only to soon be crumbled
The broken heart of the angels

Never has something ever so pure
Innocent beyond reasoning
Done something so wretched
The broken heart of the angels

Rain falls like tears
Tears of sadness and hurting
Feel them  weep in regret
The broken heart of the angels

Beyond a doubt
It was bliss while it lasted
But trust was misplaced
The broken heart of the angels

Feel the sense of betrayal in the tears that fall
Whose tears are these
They are my own
The broken heart of the angels

Though fairly short in length, it briefly depicts one of the most difficult points in my life, as of late. Sure, we all are eventually hurt by someone, and we act as though it has no effect on us. But don't ever deny what your heart feels inside for the loss you have been dealt. Feel free to cry over the hard times, it will only be much harder if you keep how you really feel inside.

Free Heart

Times have changed
Friends have departed
Leaving me to myself
Alone and broken-hearted

But in the midst of my sorrow
Despite my tears
I want to sing "Glory to my Father"
"Who has protected me all these years!"

I thank you, Lord God
For taking away my pain
Send in the pouring flood
Of Your love and mercy like rain

Let my tears be of praise
My shouts to You so high
On Your wings
I want to fly

Cry unto the Heavens
I will sing my chosen part
I want to declare to the universe
That I have a free heart!

Originally inspired by an emotional struggle I've been fighting, another meaning arose just recently with a dear friend whom has had even more difficulty as of late. Confessing to me a painful hurting and asking for direction, I simply told him to give all his  sorrow to God, and only then would he feel free of his sin. Thankfully he did, and it just says without a word what the power of God does in a single moment's time to wipe away our uncleaness. Through Christ, we can all have a free heart!
